Reception

I have sent out a Google Docs survey to make sure I knew how my film opening would be interpreted my different people. Each person's response will also aid me with my Critical Evaluation.

Since I have been using Google apps for a while, I decided to make my questionnaire on Google Forms (or Google Docs survey), because it automatically gathers up the information into graphs, and an Excel Spreadsheet.

As I was creating the questionnaire, I made sure to ask for their gender, because the answers from different genders will help me generalise my target audience's gender. This data will allow me know if that fact that, stereotypically, psychological thrillers would attract female viewers a little more than male audiences. I have also asked their ages, because this will help me identify the age of the majority of my target audience, narrowing down my key demographic.

I have also asked if they could identify the genre of my opening sequence, because I mentioned previously in my coursework checklist, to establish the genre of my film - through codes and conventions within the two-minute limit we are given. The audience's response to this question will allow me to know if have met this aim.

Furthermore, one of the open questions ask about reception - to see if my audience understood the concept of my film and what it is trying to convey through codes and conventions, camera work and mise-en-scene. Additionally, I have also asked about gender representation to see if the audience can determine whether the film is female/male driven.

Here are some of the responses from the questionnaire:
