Filming: Part I

Location/s: House (2373/3) - bedroom
Last week, I filmed the opening shots of my film that included only set and props. I managed to film most of the shots, except for the shot that whip pans to reveal a shadow next to the female character's bed.
As I have mentioned previously in my location recce, I need to look for a room that is partially empty with a bed so I can film the required shot. However, I decided to take this shot out and replace it with a different one - perhaps a close-up of the desk to show the markings - because I that shot was to fill in space for the film, and would only appear for a few seconds.

Initially, I wanted to shoot my film opening in low-key lighting, because it would add to the eerie and uncanny atmosphere. However, after looking at my rushes, I noticed that many of the shots had different lighting due to the lamp I used that day.

The lamp I borrowed belongs to Gabrielle, and I used it because it was way too dark to film without any lights. Additionally, a problem I had with using the lamp was that I had to adjust the light with the knob, so there is no set lighting. Furthermore, I had to take short breaks with using the lamp (switching it off after a few minutes), because it would start to give off a burnt scent, and thus wasted filming time. I have also encountered another problem regarding the wallpaper, which I have mentioned in my previous blog post.

Here is the first draft of my film. I have to figure out why the sides of the video have been minimised on YouTube, because it does not show the letterboxes and I do not want this to happen when I upload my final product as this may change the meaning of the film:

On the next filming session, I am going to film with Sabrina so I will have to find another day where I can re-film these shots. Also, instead of filming at night, I will film just before the sun sets so there is still enough light, and it will not be too dark outside.
