Opening Sequence: Part II

FILMING: DAY 1
Our group is currently in the process of filming, so in today's lesson we decided to try and shoot certain parts of our sequence using this wooden stand Mr. Fairbrother made to help us capture our point of view shots (which are seen throughout the Napoleon Dynamite opening credits).

Before we actually filmed, we had to set up our wooden stand by using four clamp-stand to support each side.
We then used the compass app on the iPhone to help us make the stand equal on each side. This is because when we did our first attempt at filming (using Lujane's iPhone), the stand was lopsided, and this was a problem since we needed it to face down so we could accurate film it as a point of view shot.
We adjusted a clamp-stand on each corner of the wooden stand to support it.
Afterwards, we opted for a camera recorder, because when we tried filming on Jujane's iPhone, the light being reflected on the vinyl record could be seen and we did not like it. Also, we used elastic bands to help support the camera on the stand as it was not stable on its own.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNT
From our first day of filming, I have learnt how easy it is to have an idea for our opening sequence, but how difficult filming it can actually be.

HOW IT CAN HELP ME
The obstacle we faced as a group today (with setting up our equipment) has helped me realise how team-work plays an important role in the production of a film. This has also prepared us for the next few days of filming, because now that we have finally set up our equipment, all we have left to do is bring our objects together to shoot, then edit it.
