Logo Design

My initial aim for my logo design was to make it as personal as possible. Before proceeding with my logo creation, I did some research on what makes a good logo and I came across this simple Venn diagram:

Upon researching what makes a logo really effective, I read this article on the significance of different logo shapes. The article states that circles tend to project a positive emotional message as it creates a sense of unity. Rings have an implication of partnership, which suggests stability and endurance. Therefore, I came to the conclusion that the shape of my logo design would be a circle as I wanted to convey these feelings to the audience.

After spending a couple of minutes looking at various circular logo designs, the ones which I have drawn inspiration from for my own was: Starbucks and WordPress.
I really like the idea of the two rings with a central image as I think this draws the attention to the main figure.

Here is a branding 'cheat sheet' that I have created which summarises the different elements of my primary and alternate logo:
The two logos which I have created, using an online graphic designing platform called Canva, uses monochromatic tones for a specific reason. This is because, the colour grey is perceived as calming, sleek and neutral and black represents power and elegance as it is the colour of authority. I decided to use these colours as it evokes a timeless and bold appeal and they are often used in fashion and editorial magazines - which I plan to create for my coursework. Also, I thought that by having an absence of colour, it would make my logo easier to remember. Both logos include my initials: a capital 'R' that has been flipped and a capital 'A' and I did this because it looked more fitting. Furthermore, in my alternate logo, I chose a watercolour splatter for the background (it was an image I got from Google which I then edited as greyscale), as it represents my love for art and symbolises creativity, again, making it more personal; and the specific fonts used add a feminine touch to it.

Overall, I really like how my logo design has turned out because it is very minimal, which reflects my personal style, and the simplicity of it makes it more memorable.
