Visual Representation Project

"The medium is the message" - Marshall McLuhan

1. Representation
Our first project, which enabled us to showcase our creativity, was to create a presentation using 10 images of our choice to describe ourselves. What had full control of what we wanted to include and how we were going to present them to our peers. For example, some chose to simply go with a slideshow, while others were more adventurous and opted for a platform which they were unfamiliar with e.g. an online magazine.

2. Interpretation
In the lesson, we discussed the importance and difference between a connotation and denotation. Our main goal was to get the audience to interpret the images differently from the writer's intention.

3. Evaluation
After assessing each of the presentations, we had to critically evaluate the the use of digital technology, creativity, how the writer felt when the peers gave their feedback and how they may want to exhibit their presentation; either through social media or advertising etc.

What I gained from this project is that a task like this can be difficult, as visuals convey lots of subtext. The adage "a picture is worth a thousand words" has never been more true.
