Snapshot Project: Part III

EDITING
For this project, I decided to opt for the vlog instead of the poster because I wanted to do something which would challenge me.
To create my vlog, I used iMovie and edited the video on my iPad - this is because my laptop did not support any video-editing softwares I downloaded, therefore I had to find another way to edit my video. In iMovie, there are two options before creating a project; a movie, or a trailer. I initially planned to choose the trailer as it caught my eye first, however, a downside to it was that there are already pre-made trailers and it does not allow you to change the background music, which I did not like.
Throughout the process of editing, I thought that it would be difficult to work with an iPad because I was unfamiliar with how the application worked on a different device, however, I actually found it a lot easier as it was quicker on my iPad.
Here is a screenshot of the editing process of my video using iMovie on my iPad.

Since my video was primarily animation, I edited the images using Adobe Photoshop CS6. I added the images on iMovie and edited it so that each frame would be in time with the voice recordings. Furthermore, I created my logo using PicMonkey - I made the background transparent so the colour would not appear when I placed it onto another image. For the logo itself, I used simple shapes; two circles (the outer ringer a darker shade of grey, whereas the inner circle was a lighter grey, but faded), and my initials (a flipped capital “R” and an “A”). I’ve also used my logo as a watermark on my video (shown on thumbnail).
As for music, I decided not to use a song with lyrics as I thought it would not suit my video and also it would have been quite distracting as I used voice recordings. So, I spent some time looking for the perfect background music and I finally came across a tune on soundcloud and chose a song called Space Rocks by Dr. Grumble.
After having completed my video, we showed it to the whole class. I was also assessed by my peer, Maytha, who gave my feedback on my work (two things I did well, and one thing I can improve on):
    1. The narration made the video more fun to watch
    2. Great use of styles i.e. action, images, movement
    3. Just make sure to use colours that contrast

WHAT I HAVE LEARNT
From this project, I’ve definitely learnt new things on the way; such as, how to edit a film (especially when there was a time limit), how important the quality of sound is, and also not to give too much information about ourselves.

THINGS I NEED TO CONSIDER FOR MY FUTURE FILMS:
☑  If you are going to make an animation film, consider your choice of colour for your backgrounds.
☑  Also, make sure the colour of your text is appropriate so the audience can read your subtitles.
☑  Use a microphone so the audience can hear you clearly.
☑  Manage your time wisely so you don’t spend too much/little time editing.

And here is the final product, enjoy!
